Filming my final movie

Filming my movie was an enjoyable process as I was able to try out new ideas that I had on the spot. There were some ideas that I had that differed from my original plans however I believe that they were improvements. The biggest change was the change of actor. I was set to act in my own film however to show off my camera work I chose against this. This meant I needed a new actor. I chose my little brother as I believe his younger age will creep audiences out and that is the aim. I followed the simple aspects of the plot adding in minor scenes like the shower scene. I added these as I believed the sounds of the shower could add suspense to the movie. Lighting was a main focus of mine when filming my movie. I wanted everything to look as normal as possible as I wanted to create the illusion that the character is normal. To do this I chose my location as inside my house. This allowed me to use artificial lighting without it looking out of place. The audience can see that the lights inside the house are on and this means that they do not look out of place. This also helped me highlight the character as I could position them under the lights to show them off. As much as I enjoyed the filming process I found it difficult to do. Without a tripod I had to find other ways to steady each of the shots. This was difficult but not a problem that I couldn’t and did not solve. As my actor was a young child I tried to push the limits on what I could and couldn’t film. A scene where the child exits the shower with just a towel around his waist could be considered inappropriate. However the character is supposed to be a little odd (they are a 10 year old murderer) and so I wanted to make the audience feel uncomfortable to watch the character as a way of creating an uneasy atmosphere.

Additional research

As additional research I have put down all the little different things I need to do or add into my film. I wrote down the props that I need; Bowl of cereal, Hand saw and bin bags. I spoke about location. And costumes. My plans for different shots such as various close ups and long shots was written down. Perhaps the most important was my risk assessment. I noted own 3 potential risks and then rated them on likelihood and how severe. I then wrote small notes on how to prevent them from happening.
